Yet Another Triple Level Day!

Yesterday was off a lot. Got some mixing done but mostly harving in prep to do some potioning.

This morning, it was a few more hours at the feros. Really nice for OAs...

One hour experience on feros

That's from my first hour on the feros this morning. That's mostly "1.5" training, that is flee training on 1, start a second while the first respawns before I'm halfway done with the second. Nice to do that when the feros cave is low on players and doesn't have some idiot running around with a sword killing them all off.

At any rate, a couple hours of feros training got me:

You advanced to level 102 of defense!

Defense Level 102

Followed very shortly by

You advanced to level 101 of attack!

Attack Level 101

And just maybe 20 minutes later by

Your overall level is now 134!

Overall Level 134

Sweet. Sweet. Sweet. ;)

Put an end to the feros bashing after that, been there long enough and it was starting to get too crowded for my taste in the cave.

Back to the mix and harv. Just finished mixing the bars for my S2Es finally, and am harving stuff for potion work now. Won't mix the S2Es until maybe much later tonight when my astro is better.

Current plans: Keep getting in occasional feros bashing, work on next potion level, make AEs and MD 500 or so more bears, get a crafting level, and do another batch of S2Es that will be the final ones needed to buy my Animal 5 nexus.

Today specifically will be harving and mixing potions. Other stuff if I tire of that, heh.

Mixing and Feros Pummeling

Got all the ings for my batch of S2Es, got the FEs mixed, mixing the bars now.

Last two mornings included a couple hours each of kicking feros. Gotten a few million OA experience from that. About 1 more feros session away from attack, defense, and overall leveling.

Zero Tolerance for Sword in Feros Cave

Pretty sick of this, and not tolerating it anymore. Boneheads coming in with swords and speed-killing every feros in sight, even ones others are in the middle of training on, myself included.

Not tolerating them any more. You pull that stupid shit while I'm in there, and I'll take the time to pull out my Halberd (on me at all times in C2 for Lenny fun), and I'll ensure that bonehead's time in there is of absolutely no profit to them.

Cemil of Turk found that out this morning, using the lame excuse that he has the Attack god as a reason for killing every feros in sight with a sword, even hitting one I'd already started training on.

I gave him two chances to put the sword away on his own. I accept no excuses. I have the Attack god too, so that excuse was laughed at. There's no excuse for attacking a spawn someone's in the middle of training on. I don't disrupt others, and I demand the same respect.

I also learned from speaking to other trainers there that he does this regularly, and others have even been forced out of there because they can't get any training done when he's around.

Cemil will be facing my halberd anytime I see him in the feros cave using a sword or in any other way disrupting others. I'm in no rush to train, so I got all the time in the world to make boneheads' lives miserable.

Plain and simple, don't show up near me in there with a sword. If my training is disrupted by you, I'll ensure you get absolutely nothing out of being in there. If you need a sword, you should be back on the rabbits. No excuse will be accepted for using one in that cave.

Back to the Mix

Had horrible net connection past two days, so got little done.

When I was on, I got some more bears mana drained and fur collected.

Yesterday was mostly working on restocking my HEs and LEs.

Today, starting work on another batch of S2Es. Just two more batches and I'll have enough for Animal 5 nexus.

That's pretty much all I'll be working on today. Gotta harv/make FEs, harv coal, make the bars... it'll be a while. ;)

Fourth 100+ skill! And Then Some...

Yesterday got the actual S2Es mixed from the bars I'd just made.

After, I had internet issues that kept me off several hours.

I returned eventually, hit a few bears with mana drain, and as well:

You advanced to level 33 of summoning!

Summon Level 33

Those things mixed in with harving some made it a day.

This morning, though, was spent in the feros cave.

You advanced to level 101 of defense!

Defense Level 101

and ran out of essies with only 10k left to go on attack level. So I poofed to SRM, restocked, walked up to NRM and:

You advanced to level 100 of attack!

Attack Level 100

Fourth 100+ skill! Yippee! Hehe.

Which makes me cry a little, because based on my other levels, I won't see another 100 until Harvest hits 100, and those levels are coming maybe once a month.

Anyway, that's it for the feros this morning. Harving a bit now, probably mana drain some more bears in a bit. Then it's back to work on my HE and LE stock.

Bars and Essies

Back to non-leveling stuff. Well, relatively speaking compared to the past few posts.

Finished iron harving and mixing all the bars for the batch of S2Es. Just need to mix the S2Es themselves. Probably later tonight as my astro is rising now and should be good for mixing by then. My manu level is probably high enough that critical fails wouldn't be so much even with bad astro, but I'd rather not risk it. Mixing bars with my alch level on bad astro is a different subject... no real difference no matter what my astro, so I went ahead and mixed them.

Then went and mixed another 2k+ of air essences for my next round of mana draining bears and collecting furs.

Now working on my LE and HE stocks as they're a little low. Mixing at the silver so slow going.

Coming plans after I get my essie stocks back up (may do more energy and matter essies too) are to MD a few hundred bears, get another summoning level with wolf furs I've been randomly collecting, and possibly get my 100 attack level for my 4th 100+ skill.

Gonna get back to doing some more potioning after that. Mostly for the gc, so BRs of course. But I need to keep working on my SR stock for when I can start making summon stones, which is only half a nexus' worth of S2Es off, so not much longer.

Another Triple Level Day... Back to S2Es

The day after my big att/def/oa day, I hit another triple-leveling day.

You advanced to level 40 of engineering!

Engineering Level 40

That was semi-intentional, working on indicators. I knew my harv level was close too, so it killed two levels with one job.

After that I hit NC/VotD to play mana drain games with bears. Kept hitting stuff on the hour to get my harv points, so...

You advanced to level 93 of harvesting!

Harvesting Level 93

And of course, since MD-ing the bears was more than just to collect their furs for future stone-making:

You advanced to level 56 of magic!

Magic Level 56

After that, it's been mostly work on my next batch of S2Es. About half-way done with this batch, but I'll be at the iron for quite a while.

Except this morning, woke up with 2.5 hours of Sun Tzu left. So I hit a NRM feros spawn for that time.

But back to work on the S2Es now...

Holy Crap... Third 100+ Skill... Instance, Attack, Defense, OA!

Today was the mother of all days, hehe.

Went into what will be my final 80-100 instance. And finally a profitable one! No bricks lost, with a scythe drop among other things and lots of gc. Sweet.

Bashed on feros for a triple attack, and got my third 100+ skill in the process!

You advanced to level 100 of defense!

Defense Level 100

My third 100+ skill. Attack will be coming next, very soon...

You advanced to level 99 of attack!

Attack Level 99

which was followed shortly by

Your overall level is now 133!

Overall Level 133

'Tis been one heckuva I night, I tells ya. ;)

Meanwhile, the past few days leading up to today saw a lot more feros bashing than usual. As well, started making stock of AEs for future bear mana-draining shenanigans. And I did the god switches I mentioned in the previous entry.

Oh, and during that time I got defense 99 and attack 98. Feels kinda pointless to mention that after the above triple-shot. ;)

Back to mixing tomorrow. Got S2Es to make, got more AEs to make, got bears to mana drain, gotta restock my HEs after all that feros bashing and instance. Plenty to do, heh.

The Gods Must Be Crazy... Or Maybe I Am

I was working along, gathering ings for my next batch of S2Es. I looked at my future plans to see what I was going to work on next. And I realised something...

When you have gods, your focus tends to be more on the skills you have gods for. And that was keeping me from getting my other skills up faster than they were. It's a mindset thing. Even when I tried to work on my non-god skills, I somehow ended up doing a lot more in the god skills.

What adds to this thinking was that my 3 gods that I currently had were also the 3 skills that were my highest... alchemy, potion, defense.

So I decided... If I'm gonna be a real "all-rounder", I need to make a drastic change. And that's what I'm doing now.

The change? Kill all 3 gods and pick 3 completely different ones.

Not as easy as it sounded. After much decision-making, I only ended up changing 2. But even still, that's a huge change for something so spur-of-the-moment as this.

The two changes:
* Defense replaced with Attack
* Alchemy replaced with Magic

Defense to Attack was a no-brainer. These days my OAs come primarily from feros kicking, so I want to keep one of those gods at all times.

Taking Attack though helped force me to kick Alchemy, since those gods are enemies.

The original idea was to take Summoning. However, I knew I was going to want to play mana-drain games with bears to stock a load of furs before I hit the summoning stones. So I went with magic.

As for the third god, Potion, I ended up keeping it after consideration for a few reasons:

* I need at least 1 skill to focus on that is actually profitable. With Alch gone, Potion was the second option.
* I'll be making a motherload of SRs in the near future for summoning stones.
* The god I intended to replace it with, Engineering, is quite expensive and my gc isn't as high as I'd like it to be. Even attempting to make the majority of the needed god items would take way too long for this spur-of-the-moment change.

I still plan to replace Potion with Engineering, it just won't happen for a while.

So my new gods are (once I finish making the quest items I'm doing now): Potion, Attack, Magic

Magic to be replaced with Summoning once my summon level is enough that spider stones are a viable option.

Potion to be replaced with Engineering "one of these days"

And Attack... we'll see how my a/d training goes. No plan to change it for quite some time at least.

At any rate, this will start to drastically change my priorities around, and allow me to focus on things I hadn't focused on at all, or at least not in quite a long time.

The near future will be a lot of:
- AE making for mana draining
- mana draining bears and collecting their furs
- BRs to keep the gc income alive
- SRs to stock for summon stones
- LEs to stock for summon stones
- Kicking a lot more feros than I used to get the a/d as well as overall levels
- And of course, continued S2E making to buy nexus

Heh, see, even with my priorities changed, alchemy remains a heavy thing.

As for my other skills:
- Alchemy won't be focused on like it used to be, though it will keep leveling on its own due to constant bar and essie making for other stuff.
- Ranging will be a rare thing for the near future.
- All other non-god skills will continue to be occasionally leveled as I feel like it, for change of pace, whatever. Manu less so than the others, excepting the S2Es being made or other necessities.

- Overall - My goal for overall remains to be OA 141, which will give me enough pickpoints to have full 48/48 p/c. Wanted for the emu. May screw with my a/d training but I don't really care about that. The emu makes mixing and harving so much easier, heh.

So... back to work on magic and attack god quest items. Should have my gods switched within an hour or two. Probably crazy doing this, but sometimes a drastic change is needed, if anything to give something new to do.

My Second 100+ Skill!!!

You advanced to level 100 of potion!

Potion Level 100

Wooooooooooooooooohooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Just got that less than an hour ago, during a 39% Scholar's Day. Mixing like a madman, and advertising like crazy on market to get ings, but it came through with a few minutes of the special day to spare. Yippeee!

Time since my last post has been mostly harving and mixing, with a several hour break to hunt invaders, especially of the invisible kind.

Found 3 of the invisible rats, getting Hellspawn removal, fast regen removal, and 10kgc from them. Unfortunately lost a brick walking right into an ice dragon the second I entered a map, didn't even have time to restore. Brick. :/

During the invasion, I also found a kitty cat in Hurquin...

Leonard Dead in Hurquin

Went on to later mix moon medallions out of silver bars/medallions I'd mixed earlier.

You advanced to level 46 of crafting!

Crafting Level 46

Sweet. Just nowhere near as wait as friggin' potion 100! :D

Hmmm... after that rush, I'm lost as to what to do next... gonna harv a while, heh.

Another Brick-killing Instance, and Future Plans

Went through the 80-100 instance for the second time last night. Died twice... thanks to stats I was essentially the #2 target for creatures, and of course I died when the #1 target was dissed to regain mana.

The first time I just didn't heal fast enough. The second... was a "Doh!" moment. I did hit the Restore spell on time, but I didn't realise I had run out of HEs.

That last was on the final creature when he was only 2k health or so away from dying. Just a few more HEs and I would have survived that time. Grr...

Drops were not impressive either. gc + 2 bronze swords + dragon blade. My share certainly didn't cover two lost bricks.

Ah well, I do those mostly for fun, even if it is a bit costly thus far, heh.

Future Plans

* Instances: Hopefully I'll get at least 1 more in before I cross the "too high a/d for it" barrier. After that, won't see another one for quite a while.

* General: Trying to put some more focus on being more of an all-rounder. That is, focusing at least occasionally on the skills I've been either ignoring or not working on at all. Recently got levels in several of those skills, and that's a start. Hoping to continue it.

* Manufacturing: Been looking at my manu-ing future of late, specifically what can I do at this point with manu 64, and options in how to afford to start getting more levels in this again. Thoughts of sitting at Trik making helms repeatedly at these levels are... not very pleasing to think of. I'd prefer finding other ways to afford buying leather/thread and hitting the manu school instead. For now, my only manu-ing has been making the S2Es for my nexus purchases, which isn't exactly getting the levels done.

Need to get some more manu books read. As well, buy some nexus. Nexus for manufacturing will be the next buys after I get Animal 5, which I'm working on S2Es for now.

* Crafting: Still having a hard time getting into this as much as I'd like. So it's a slow process. But I get a level occasionally so it's not dead.

* Ranging: Honestly, except for occasionally taking advantage of a double exp ranging on rare occasion, and occasional use in invasions, this is pretty much on hold for the time being. Can't really afford the gc sink for now like I used to since I'm working on buying nexus, so it's very limited. I do have plans to kick this into high gear at a later date though. Including getting all 60 possible Archery AP potions to eventually be an ass-kicking ranger. Meanwhile, being in the top 30 works for me. ;)

* Engineering: Slow ride. Working on it occasionally. I eventually plan to drop the Potion goddess and replace her with the Engineering god. After which this will become a more priority skill. I just haven't decided when to drop the pot goddess yet. Plus I need to work on the necessities for the Eng god quests. That alone will take a while with my current gc state.

* Tailoring: Another slow ride. No god(dess) to speak of. Takes a load of time and patience to get a level due to the amount of flower ings, and saltpetre issues. I'll be happy just to get in the top 50 which is sadly not that far off. Sadly because the skill is in such a poor state that the barrier for being in the top 50 is incredibly low. I'm only level 29 now and top 50 is only a few levels away. That's not even rec level to make anything outside of fabrics. Shame this skill is so badly implemented. Though, I got no idea how it could be fixed to be more useful.

* Alchemy: With 3.2 million experience needed for a level at this point, I'm not exactly power-leveling this anymore. However, I do on occasion go and mix magic essies to work on it. However most of the leveling on this is done just through necessity. Mixing HEs, EnEs, and Matter essies for necessity (restore, teleporting), and of course mixing the bars for S2Es to buy nexus, and silver medallions.

I will need to eventually drop the alch goddess again, as my attack level is going to need some help in the future and those gods are enemies. But not while I'm heavy into buying nexus and making so many bars, heh.

* Potioning: Only about 10k BRs away from potion 100 now! So close to being my second 100+ skill. Trying not to think of that as I try to work on other skills at the same time. But I expect I'll hit that mark in the next few days.

The future for potting? As mentioned, I plan to drop the goddess, just dunno when. A pot level of 103 would make me a top 10 potter, and 105-106 or so would probably keep me in the top 10 for a good while. So maybe when I hit around 106 I'll drop her.

* Attack/Defense: As mentioned, I hope to get at least one more 80-100 instance in before I get too high for it, so I'm low-prioritizing these for the moment. Once that's done though, I'll probably go at it a lot more frequently. The OA experience is too good to pass up doing this for long, and OA 141 is my golden number as it'll put me at 48/48 p/c with pickpoints. Need that for the extreme amount of harving I do, not for a/d training... my a/d may be getting up there, but I still don't consider myself a fighter.

* Harvesting: Really not working on leveling this anymore. I try to hit ogre toes and white chans when I can, but mainly for use in potioning school, not harv leveling. I get some turquoise experience on those occasional engineer-level trips. But mostly I just get experience on whatever I happen to be harving, and haven't been going out of my way to get the hourly experience.

I do want to hit harv 100 so I can get my own dung better, but really not in a rush. It'll happen eventually. I expect harvesting to be my fifth 100+ skill. (Already done alch, potion will be next, then defense, then attack, then harv. I don't expect any other skill to catch up to those levels before harv hits 100.)

* Magic: While it's been almost exclusively just restores and portal room trips until now (with rare use of other spells), I've started to look at mana draining and getting this skill up some more.

Specifically, I'm thinking in conjunction with summoning. I got just one more nexus to buy before I can start summoning stones, and I'd really like to have a regular supply of bear furs for doing bear stones.

Mana drain the bear, kill (no weapon or armor needed, just an occasional restore, which means more magic exp), repeat.

It's a thought, and I'll be giving it a try soon. Meanwhile I've started doing occasional mana drains on large spiders in Naralik while harving flowers there, just for the extra bit of experience.

* Summoning: I plan to get more heavy into this very soon. I'm working on the S2Es to buy the Animal 5 nexus, which will allow me to start doing summon stones. Which will allow me to work on leveling this much better than the constant wolf/boar summoning the last few levels have been.

See how that goes... meanwhile I'm summoning on occasion just to get a few levels up so the fail rate won't be as painful when I start the stones. Yes, yes, a few levels over rec level doesn't give that much less fails, but every little bit helps when dealing with painful ingredients.

Well, I think that covers all the skills, heh. *phew*

Current Plans

Currently working on FEs for silver bars to get my next crafting level's worth of moon medallions. And that'll hopefully get my gc back up some more as well, having just replaced the 2 bricks I lost in last night's instance.

Other current plans are to continue working on S2Es for my next nexus, finish off Potion 100, and get Engineering 40. Interspersed with other necessities or "just for fun" stuff, of course.

A Weekend of Harv and Mix

Sometimes days without levels feels like nothing is actually being accomplished. But working on already-high skills takes time to get those.

Potioning for example... 2 million+ experience to get from 99 to 100. That's 20,000+ BRs alone. Obviously sitting and doing that many at once would be an exercise in boredom, so gotta mix in some other skills too. Split it up into partial-level goals and such.

To that end, I've gotten half a potion level this weekend.

Also mixed my hydro bars and bought my 4th Animal nexus. Just one more to go before I can start making summoning stones.

And to that end, I've already got the first 130+ S2Es made for the next hydro run.

Contemplating starting to work on another crafting level today, just to be different.

Also did the newest quest that was implemented in a server update this weekend. Interesting, different from previous quests. Radu added the ability to track killing specific creatures for quests and it was used for this quest, which made it very unlike any quest thus far. I think a lot could come from that bit of coding he did. (Kudos Radu, very good idea!)

Apparently lots of new NPCs in Desert Pines were added as well. I haven't gotten around to checking those out, but I will eventually. There seems to be a mad rush to go find them all as soon as they're added for some reason. Personally I think it's more interesting when you happen to stumble on them during the course of regular game play. Though I have eventually gone and searched them out before, like with the Palon Vertas new NPCs. I didn't go immediately, but eventually got around to it. The same will happen with these. I'm very "pro" these new NPCs as I think they're a good "fleshing out" of the game. It's just that, well, they're not going anywhere and neither am I, so I'll see and talk to them eventually.

Got another instance planned for this evening. Hopefully this one doesn't get cancelled as well.

Hydro, Fluffy, Stones, Overall, and Lenny

Spent yesterday morning doing enough hydro runs to get over 500 ores. Took quite a while, but no interruptions by braindead pkers at least. Not to say I didn't see anyone along the way... one trainer in the fluffy cave as expected, couple others grabbing hydro but only saw them actually at the hydro, and one pretty-much-newbie actually out in a pk area who should be quite thankful I'm not a pker.

I also noticed as I forgot my green cape doing the runs that apparently I've passed the fluffy ignore level. Only thing the green cape is useful now for is chims.

The stones, the stones... been harving for my next 1/4-nexus batch of S2Es. In the past two days I've gotten 2 bindings, 1 reasoning, and 1 will. They just keep coming, heh. Now if only I could find a few nexus stones... :P

Did a bit of mixing bars in the mine at the iron, however it occured to me that my overall was close enough to leveling that just an hour on the feros would do it. So... I took a mining break and went to NRM.

Your overall level is now 132!

Overall Level 132

Was really just taking a break from mining and mixing, not planning to train, so I headed to SRM storage after that.

But... someone was outside the storage waiting for me.

Leonard in South Redmoon

Nice way to celebrate my OA, giving Lenny a big bash on the noggin. :P

Well, today it's back to the iron. After which time to work on that one nagging potion level that'll make it my second 100+ skill.

In the Zone, On a Roll

The instance mentioned the last entry got cancelled. Doh.

Yeah, today was a nice leveling day, hehe.

Woke up this morning to find it was an hour or so into a random Sun Tzu day. Sweeeet, during off-peak hours. Getting a feros spawn was just a matter of walking to North Redmoon. (I didn't even bother trying the Bethel cave, that's where everyone would be fighting over them, while only one other person was found in NRM, but I digress...)

You advanced to level 97 of attack!

Attack Level 97

And

You advanced to level 98 of defense!

Defense Level 98

Not content with that, after Sun Tzu was over I went back to finishing off my alchemy level, which I'd started doing last night.

You advanced to level 108 of alchemy!

Alchemy Level 108

Feeling the urge for another number, I went and used up all my wolf furs, then got rid of my snake skins and a touch of the boars for...

You advanced to level 32 of summoning!

Summoning Level 32

Grand Slam, brought all 4 home! Also made the stock of C1 rings I was needing. Very... productive(?) day, heh.

Back to harving again now though. My next 3 planned goals are a crafting level, work on the next 125 S2Es, and get half my next potion level done. All 3 of which require lots of harving first, though potion less than the other two.

Monday, July 6, 2009

Potion 99, Finished S2Es, and Another Instance

Lots more harving. But yesterday I finally got around to sitting my ass down and getting a LOT of mixing done.

You advanced to level 99 of potion!

Potion Level 99

Sweet. But annoying because it means I'm only 1 level away from making it my second 100+ skill.

You know I'll be wanting to remedy that very soon, hehe.

I've also moved up in the other charts... I'm now ranked 31 in NonCombat, and 42 as AllRound. The AllRound really jumped the last few times I leveled a skill. NonCombat is slowly creeping its way up though. Been pretty steady the past few skills leveled though.

But I have other things to do as well...

Finished mixing the bars, and then the last of the S2Es needed for 50+ hydro bars. Now it's just a matter of doing the hydro runs. Which will come at some point. Of course I won't be announcing when here. Could be even a week from now, I'm in no rush to get the nexus.

Meanwhile, I'm looking to get my next summoning level next. Get as many levels as I can before I get my 5th Animal Nexus and start making stones. (Going to buy my 4th with this batch of hydro I'm going to gather soon, so I still got time before the 5th happens.)

So right now I'm sitting in the silver mine mixing some LEs for stock. (2 ELEs so far out of 300 LEs, not too bad, heh.)

REALLY needing to do a batch of personal-use C1 rings. Every once in a while I do a large stock of them for myself. The Naralik rings are almost gone, since that's my primary hangout on C1 these days. VotD rings are in short supply as well, mainly because of going there from C2 when needing FE ings. The others... well, they get used on occasion, don't need to make too many of them. Just like having a small stock of them for those "just in case" moments.

Currently about 600k away from an alch level. I'll likely want to whittle that away soon as well, though forcing it's not really necessary. As said, doing LEs now, gotta make some more HEs and EnEs soon... it works itself out.

Not to mention, gonna start work soon on the next batch of S2Es for the 5th Animal Nexus. Those bars will more than cover a "lousy" 600k experience. :P

Got plans for another instance tonight. Hopefully this one will go better, and it'll be a positive cashflow instead of negative like last time, hehe. Not that it will matter too much, but I've gotten 1 attack, 1 defense, and gained 2 more coordination (which is now maxed out) since the last time.

More Harving. Oh, and a Ranging Level

Still harving. Need a total of about 18k iron. Being a bit occupado with other things I decided to just harv rather than make bars at the iron since I couldn't give it my complete focus.

So I'm working on that still.

However, yesterday morning we got a Robin Tell day (double ranging experience). I went ahead and took advantage of it...

You advanced to level 38 of ranging!

Ranging Level 38

Ranging, Harvesting, Tailoring, Engineering, Crafting... nice to be getting levels the past few days in skills that have been pretty much ignored of late.

Harv Level and Nothing Special

Got harv 92 today. Barely pay attention to my harv level at this point since it's so, well, pointless to waste the time trying to level it quicker.

And because of that lack of attention, I forgot to get my obligatory screenshot. Doh. ;)

Mostly harving and roaming today, didn't really get much of anything else done.

Only needing iron at this point for my S2Es. Working on it. Probably make some bars at the iron tomorrow.
